Merchants’ Academy Sports Centre is a brand new fully-equipped sports facility open to members of the general public.

Situated on the site of the new Merchant's Academy, off Gatehouse Avenue, Withywood, the centre was taken over and refurbished by the Society of the Merchant Venturers for the use of the local community.

  • AEROBIC TRAINING

    Cardiovascular

    Our NEW spacious and naturally lighted gym contains a wide range of cardiovascular equipment, including: exercise bikes, cross trainers, treadmills and rowing machines. We have a new core, stability and stretching area combined with a large open plan layout.

  • RESISTANCE TRAINING

    Free Weights Room

    We have a seperate free weights room with dumbells, barbells, preacher curl, adjustable benches, bench press and mutiple mirrors for perfecting technique.

     

  • EXERCISE CLASSES

    Classes Available

    Our group exercise classes are renowned for making fitness fun and in most cases there is no need to book - just turn up ready to go! 

    The classes are designed for all levels and all abilities, and take place both during the week and on weekends (so no excuses!)

  • SPORTS HALL FACILITIES

    Sports Hall

    We offer two superb sports halls, perfect for a variety of sports and activities including Football, Badminton, Basketball, Netball and Cricket.

    With air conditioning, quality lighting and a friendly environment, you're sure to enjoy your visit!

    Dance Academy

    Our brand new dance studio is a fantastic facility catering for all types of dance. The Dance Academy caters for all age groups and gives young and old the chance to learn something new. Dancing develops rhythm, co-ordination, self confidence, as well as keeping you fit!

  • CRICKET CENTRE

    Indoor Cricket

    Merchants' Academy Sports Centre offers Bristol's best indoor cricket facility. The centre can accommodate four large nets each containing Academy standard lighting. We also provide two BOLA bowling machines and a video analysis room for top quality pratice and training.
